I don't smile at Cameras

So now I'm the crazy mom with a camera who has a daughter that will not smile for one.

This is the result when you show her a camera

Adorable but not smiling.  These are from a recent atempt to get her to do her "Ooooooo" face but again... Sadly adorable disaster.

 NO Cooperation I tell you!

It's been about 12 weeks since I put up something new about her. She is up over 15 pounds now and well over 26 inches.  She still loves bath time and people. Any one who talks to her is her new best friend!

We blessed her in April and these are both from that day. Her daddy and Grandpa made her a beautiful cake! She didn't get any but she tried.

Other than that it's been all play!

I kid you not she is watching cartoons on Wade's laptop... She loves it!

Step aside dad it's my turn to show you how it's done.

8 Weeks

It's been a while but we have been busy.
Emabelle is growing every day. She is so fun and we love having her in our life and watching her grow.  She is a very smiley happy baby. She likes to have her feet tickled and doesn't like to be restricted.  Her hands cannot be covered...ever.  She LOVES bath time and is fascinated by the sounds she can make by kicking the side of the tub.  We graduated from sink bathing to tub bathing a couple weeks ago.  She excels at diaper blowouts.  Wade wanted me to take a picture of the onesie I recently cut her out of and threw away... It was a 0-3 month white onesie and it was now a yellow/brown color... front and back and it was one of the last days she was able to wear 0-3 month clothes so it was tight and there was no way it was coming over her head without smearing it all over and so it was sacrificed.  Wade said there should be pictures for posterity but....No,  there are some things posterity just shouldn't know.  She can be a cuddler but dose like her space and so is perfectly content and sometimes demands on just being set down. 

She went to the Dr. this week and is now 24 inches long and 12lbs and 11oz.

Me, Tucker, Megan and Emabelle

 A couple weeks ago we visited my cousin April in Holden and met my mom and my Sister-in-law Megan and nephew Tucker. We had a lot of fun it had been a while since I had seen my cousin.  It was fun to visit with her for a while.

We went horseback riding in Delta as well... It was really funny because about a second after I took this picture the Horse decided to shake off... Emabelle made like a baby turtle and sucked her legs and arms and head all into a ball. It scared her a bit and the trainer laughed and told us we would never be able to get her on a horse now.  She was tough though and got right back on.

 She loves her bug mobile... I made this after looking for a cute ladybug mobile and only finding ones that cost $50 or more.

It turned out pretty cute and Emabelle loves it.  She loves to just lay there and talk to her bug friends.

 She is so cute and such a good sleeper.... It's funny some of the things she does when she is asleep.

I Made this sling for her so I could hold her and work it almost always puts her right to sleep.  We did start going back to work a few weeks ago.  She is very good and generally sleeps the whole time we are there.

Emabelle and McKenzie

 McKenzie is my cousins new little girl, She is exactly 7 weeks younger than Emabelle.  We went and visited her in the hospital the day she was born.

Chelsea is one of my very good friends. We were companions in the MTC and went to the same mission.  We also came home together,  We got married about a month apart and got pregnant a couple weeks apart but Emabelle came late and Emma came early so they ended up being born about 16 hours apart.  We hadn't asked or talked about names at all with each other so we thought it was pretty funny when we found out that we had named our daughters almost the same name.  And even though Emma only weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long.  Emabelle was 9lbs10 oz and 20.5 inches long...Now Emma and Emabelle weigh about the same but Emma is a bit longer.  Kind of crazy.

 I know this will come as a surprise to some people but I'm actually enjoying putting little bows in her hair.

3 Weeks

We spent the day today at Grandma Backers and got to hang out with cousin Luke...

I can't believe how fast this little one is growing.  She is so much fun! These two are going to be trouble some day.

I can't believe how fast these two weeks have gone by.  We have just loved this new addition to our family!

So much fun for some reason I don't have any pictures of her beautiful eyes on this camera.... Will have to post some soon.

Christmas!

 This year the entire Christmas Season has been CRAZY!!!! We have been so busy. In November we built a gingerbread house and donated it to the Gingerbread forest at the Grand America Hotel.  Wade and I volunteered and came up with the idea but we got a lot of help from everybody at the bakery to pull it off.  It turned out awesome!

It's based on the family windmill that is located in Durnam Germany. We used some old pictures and found some new pictures on the internet to help us get it right.  The windmill belonged to the Backers when they were the bakers for the royal family of Ostfriesland... I think that is how you spell it. The house is a house in the background of one of the pictures.  Though not necisarrily the house the Backers lived in or the bakery.

The windmill blades actually rotate and broke the most often. This is actually the second set of windmill blades that made it to the Grand America.  The first fell off and broke into a billion pieces.

Everything for that was visible on the house had to be edible.  The house and windmill were made from gingerbread the windows were from candy Santa, the Horse, the snowman and all of the other animals were made of Marzipan, the pond was candy as well. THe trees are made of Icing the path is little chocolate rocks the roof is cereal.  There are even kids in the house peeking out the door to see what Santa left in their shoes (In Germany they leave their shoes out on the porch for Santa to fill.  It's a family tradition in both of our families to get oranges in our socks or shoes so that is the gift we are using.  The horse is trying to steal the carrot from the snowman's nose. We had a lot of fun making this and even ended up winning the contest between the gingerbread houses (I didn't believe there was a contest even though Wade kept telling me there was.)

Other than that we have been working like crazy getting ready for Christmas both at home and at work.  We spent Christmas morning at my Dad's house.  This is my Nephew Tucker and Grandpa Schaugaard getting warm by the fire and waiting to get started.

Santa brought Tucker some chocolate Goldfish in his sock.  He was quite happy to be eating those.  He was funny because he couldn't let go of whatever he had opened last to open his next present so he kept doing it one handed. 

He had to get all the blocks out.

I made my brother Gary a new pillow case for his big pillow.  If you know Gary you know how important this is.  I made Tucker a minny version of both pillow and pillow case so they could be twins.  I think Gary was far more interested in both gifts than Tucker was.

We had a lot of fun for Christmas and saw lots of people.  But after the week of work we had we were so tired!  I took this of Button this is how I felt.

She had just finished shredding the magazine that she is laying on and just flopped down on top of it and took a nap.  Too much Christmas Fun for her.
And on Christmas I arrived at 35 Weeks pregnant.  This baby gets bigger every day.

We are getting so excited to have this little one get here!

It's a.....

So for those of you who don't know Wade and I are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the newest member of our family on January 31 2011. 

Back in June we had a bit of a scare but it all turned out just fine and we got the opportunity to have an early Ultrasound.
